Personalities from the field of culture rendered homage to the works of Constantin Rusnac in a performance of music staged at the National Library in Chisinau to celebrate the 70th birthdays of the composer, IPN reports.

Works from the golden collection of the national heritage were performed by mezzo-soprano Mariana Bulicanu, bassist Alexei Botnarciuc, pianist Rodica Caraulan and singers Diana Valuta, Veronica Valuta-Bantas and Ilie Valuta.

Constantin Rusnac related childhood and youth memories, thanking his friends for being near him. “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are. This is my current motto. Look in the hall. You are my friends and this is me,” stated the composer.

National Library director Elena Pintilei said the fruitful activity of Constantin Rusnac, who serves as Moldova’s Representative to UNESCO, is a part of the national cultural heritage. “Constantin Rusnac knew to gather around him a lot of composers and singers so as to make them known, including through our library,” she stated.

Constantin Rusnac was born in Trebisauti village of Briceni district on February 6, 1948. He collected more than 2 000 musical folkloric works and published a collection of instrumental folklore entitled “As in our village”.
