The former components of the ACUM bloc get ready for elections. The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) intends to present its candidate for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau next March, while the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) is organizing its congress where the party’s leadership is to be elected. The congress will be yet held if the pandemic situation permits, IPN reports.

The representatives of PAS said the Chisinau City Hall is the next target of the party and they are preparing to designate a candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau. PAS MP Vladimir Bolea said the candidate will be announced officially next March.

“We have many candidates. PAS is a mature party and I hope that there will be healthy competition inside and we will choose the best candidate. We will present this in March. The candidate should have enough time for preparations as they vote pragmatically in the municipality of Chisinau. This should be well-trained professionally and politically,” Vladimir Bolea stated in the talk show “The Fourth Estate” on N4 TV channel.

Representatives of PPPDA said the preparations for the party’s congress are in full swing. If the epidemiological situation permits, the event will be held on December 12.

“The competition for the post of president of the party is open and anyone can take part. There are yet discussions inside the party as to the way in which the party will be managed. We should yet hold the congress first as it was initially set for this February and it could not take place owing to the epidemiological situation. I don’t know if we are allowed to bring 500 delegates to the congress now,” stated Ion Terguța.

PPPDA remained without administration in July, when the president and vice presidents of the party quit following the modest results achieved in elections. In the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, the party led by Andrei Năstase polled only 2.33% of the vote.
