The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the fragments found in the lake in Hârbovăț village, close to Fârlădeni village of Anenii Noi district, are elements of a missile. It noted there are suspicions that the component with explosive of the rocket is on the bottom of the lake. Special protection measures were taken therefore, IPN reports.
The people’s access to the area is banned. The police are guarding the perimeter. Teams of the national police, rescuers, carabineers and border guards are working at the scene. Minister Adrian Efros travelled to the scene.
“Specialists of the bomb squad are also at the scene. They are considering the optimal method for taking out the explosive in the eventuality the component with explosive is found on the bottom of the lake,” said the Ministry of the Interior.
Hydrotechnical specialists started to pump the water out of the lake so as to facilitate the intervention of the explosive ordnance disposal technicians.
The Ministry noted there are no dangers to the population as the area was isolated and the first houses are situated at a distance of 1 km from the danger zone.
Locals informed the authorities that parts that allegedly belonged to a missile were seen on the water of the lake. The authorities confirmed that the elements belonged to a missile, noting specialists are to determine the type and make of this.
