Four so-called managers of Moldovan companies were arrested on suspicion of involvement in a scheme to appropriate 8 hectares of municipal land to the value of over 10 million lei located in Râșcani district of Chisinau. Law enforcement officers carried out searches on Tuesday morning, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, a group of people in 2013-2014 allegedly acted in complicity with officials of the Chisinau City Hall and the Cadaster Agency to illicitly acquire public property. For the purpose, they used a false court decision pronounced in 2013 by the Râșcani Court of Chisinau City, which recognized the validity of sale and purchase contracts that were purportedly concluded between the City Hall and a company registered in an offshore area, but also with other Moldovan companies.
As a result, there was registered the fictitious ownership right over the lot that is almost 8 hectares in area, which was previously transferred for use to the joint stock company CZOM, later renamed SA SUCCIN.
The anticorruption officers during searches seized objects and documents relevant to the criminal case. The four persons suspected of complicity in fraud in particularly large proportions are to be taken to the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center.
