Nefti Gaz Grup SRL sued the Chisinau City Hall, demanding that it concedes a plot of 25 hectares. The transfer of the plot was envisioned in a Government Decision of 1994, signed by Acting Prime Minister Ion Gutu. The announcement was made in the February 20 meeting of the City Hall by Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. The mayor said it was a kind of misappropriation, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca said that under the Government Decision, the 25 hectares situated on Grenoble St were asked for the construction of a residential quarter with social-cultural facilities. The company would have paid about 113,000 lei for the land, but the construction works did not start because the Cadastre Agency refused to register the plot and thus the ownership title wasn’t issued. The mayor said that he knew about that Government Decision. But, under a decision taken by the Chisinau Municipal Council in 2007, the given plot was earmarked for the extension of Chisinau. “25 hectares of land is not a joke for the municipality of Chisinau. Losing this plot means causing huge damage to the capital city. I hope we will be supported by the court so that we stop the forced and illegal appropriation of such a large area of land,” he stated. The head of the Legal Assistance Division Diana Gurschi asked creating a special commission that would examine this case and formulate an application to the Government, whereby to demand that the decision of 1994 be abrogated. She also said that a draft decision will be prepared for the Chisinau Municipal Council, concerning the annulment of the Council’s decision of 1994 to issue an ownership title to the given company.
