The companies that are repairing the national road M2 Chisinau-Soroca will be penalized for not finishing the works in time, said Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari, who paid a visit to the building site, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Ministry, Vasile Botnari gave the contractors time to complete the repair works by September. In order not to be punished, representatives of the company “Strabag AG” assured that they will step up the works over the next two months and will employ more workers.

The situation is more difficult on the road section that is rehabilitated by the Italian company “Toto Costruzioni Generali”, in association with “Taddei Spa”. A penalty of 10% of the contract’s cost will be imposed on the companies. The workers are now taking steps to remove the faults that caused holes and fissures in the asphalt.

The minister said that extensive repair works are carried out on 300 km of national roads. By 2016, the Ministry plans to reconstruct about 900-1,000 km. Vasile Botnari said the Moldovans must feel the effect of these works and he will not tolerate the lack of responsibility.
