The furniture showrooms that sell furniture made in Moldova as if it is Italian will pay heavy fines. In a press briefing on Tuesday, Viorica Carare, director of the National Agency for Competition Protection, said several such showrooms that mislead the consumers about the origin of the goods were identified in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It was established that there was no information about the products sold by these stores allowing the buyers to determine by themselves the origin or producer of the goods and their quality. When the people asked for documents of origin, they were given brochures about Italian factories, the furniture in the showroom being only an imitation of the Italian one,” said Viorica Carare.
She also said that these economic entities created disloyal competition and obtained advantages unfairly.
The National Agency for Competition Protection ordered that the given companies indicate the necessary information on the sold products within ten days. After this period, the Agency will carry out inspections and impose fines if the irregularities are not removed.
