The Communists Party of Moldova Saturday opened the election campaign with the slogan: “Moldova Chooses Victory”. In a meeting on October 9, members of the party brought red flags and Stephan the Great’s flag, Info-Prim Neo report.
Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, the former President of Moldova, said the political platform of the PCRM in the campaign for the November 28 elections presents a Moldova consisting of children, women, young people and elderly people, not of conflicting political parties.
“This Moldova wants victory. We already saw what the new administration can do. We will not multiply the dismemberment and will not divide Moldova between ours and yours,” said Vladimir Voronin.
Secretary of the PCRM’s central committee Iurie Muntean said the past year during which the party has been in the Opposition made the Communists be tougher on themselves. The party’s ranks increased as a result of the modernized and innovatory policy proposed by the party.
Two films where the Opposition criticizes harshly the ruling alliance and draws parallels with the results achieved during the eight years of Communist government were shown during the meeting. In one of the campaign videos of the PCRM, the leaders of the party and other candidates for the post of MP promise the minimum salary will be increased by 15% a year, until it exceeds the minimum consumer basket at least three times. They also promise to raise the pensioners by over 17% every year and free studies and development prospects for the young people.
In the end of the meeting, the former head of state presented the party’s 103 candidates for elections. The first ten include former Premier Zinaida Greceanyi, former Deputy Prime Minister Igor Dodon, and the central committee’s secretary Iurie Muntean. The list also contains the former head of the Security and Information Service Artur Reshetnikov, former head of Moldova’s Railways Miron Gagauz, journalist Constantin Staras, and the party’s jurist Serghei Sarbu.
