The Communist parliamentary group didn’t give a vote of confidence to the Leanca II Government because they didn’t like the composition of the Cabinet, the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said after the February 12 sitting of Parliament, IPN reports.

Voronin said he does not understand why a person who served as deputy minister of justice in the previous government (Vladimir Grosu – e.n.) was proposed for heading the Ministry of Justice. As to Maia Sandu, who was fielded for minister of education, and against whom the Communists filed a censure motion, Voronin said that even if they asked that they should be familiarized with the nominal composition of the Government, only today could they see the proposed Cabinet members in Parliament.

According to Vladimir Voronin, the PCRM is ready to continue the discussions with the PLDM and PDM for investing the executive. Asked if the Communist faction plays the game of some politicians who do not want Iurie Leanca to head the Government, Vladimir Voronin said they play no one’s game and it is not their business what these parties do.

Only 42 lawmakers of the PLDM and PDM on February 12 gave a vote of confidence to the Government at a time when the Cabinet is invested by 51 votes of MP. President Nicolae Timofti is to launch new consultations to designate a candidate for premiership for the second round of voting in Parliament.

The head of the Law Division of Moldova’s Presidential Office Alexandru Ohotnicov stated for IPN, that it is the head of state who decides whether to put forward the same candidate or another one, surely after having consultations with the parliamentary groups.

Under the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, if the Government cannot be formed or no laws are adopted during three months, Moldova’s President, after consulting the parliamentary factions, can dissolve Parliament. The legislative body can be also dissolved if it does not accept to put the installation of the Government to the vote within 45 days of the first request and only after at least two investiture requests are rejected.
