A group of Communist deputies challenged in the Constitutional Court a number of amendments to the 2011 Budget Policy.
Communist Party's lawyer MP Sergei Sirbu told Info-Prim Neo the amendments allowed the Government and the Ministry of Finance to do “whatever they want” with the Budget without asking Parliament.
According to Sirbu, the amendments give the Government and the Ministry “the liberty to manage the budget deficit and introduce external loans and grants into the State Budget without amending the Budget Law through Parliament”.
Sirbu argued that all the State Budget expenses, incomes and budget deficit interventions must pass through Parliament, as prescribed by the Constitution.
The Constitutional Court is to deliver a verdict on this matter within 10 days.
