The Communist Party (PCM) is a political project devised by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and former President of Moldova, Petru Lucinschi, Communist MP Iurie Muntean stated for Info-Prim Neo. According to him, the PCM consists of only several persons who will be trying to steal votes from the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM). “It is a project launched by the current Prime Minister Vlad Filat, backed by Petru Chirilovici Lucinschi, who, with the idea of founding an alternative Communist Party made public in 2002-2003, aims to steal votes from the supporters of the Communists. The registration of this group is illegal as such an act runs counter to the Civil Code and the Law on Parties,” said Iurie Muntean. The Communist lawmaker also said that the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat, instead of looking for that ‘puppeteer’ behind a number of dirty political acts about which he is talking, deals with such projects in order to divert attention from the daily problems and the battles taking place inside the ruling alliance for at least one day. In a news conference on May 17, three declared supporters of the Communist Party of Moldova, which was banned in 1991, announced that they launched the procedures needed to restore the PCM. Executive secretary of the Communist Party Igor Cucer harshly criticized the PCRM, saying it is a pseudo-Communist party.
