The parliamentary group of the PCRM will not participate in the presidential election set for Tuesday, November 10. Such a decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the PCRM’s Central Committee on November 9. At the same time, the Communist MPs said the days that will follow November 10 will be more important, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Central Committee decided to oblige the parliamentary group of the PCRM not to support the candidate for the presidency proposed by the Alliance for European Integration and not to take part in the vote, Communist MP Grigore Petrenco said after the meeting. Another Communist MP Vladimir Turcan said that tomorrow’s elections will be formal. “Regretfully, from legal viewpoint these elections are vulnerable and run counter to the Constitution and the Constitutional Court’s recommendations. We must focus on the days that will come after November 10. We are open to dialogue,” Turcan said. The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin did not make statements for the press after the meeting, but before it he said he will comply with the Central Committee’s decision. Only the Democratic Party’s leader Marian Lupu runs as a candidate in the presidential election. The Alliance for European Integration holds 53 seats and needs eight more votes to vote Marian Lupu in as head of state.
