The Communist parliamentary group demands that Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean should resign. In the June 19 sitting of Parliament, the Communist submitted a simple motion against the minister, IPN reports.
In the sitting, Communist MP Gheorghe Anghel said the crime situation in the country is alarming. Over the last few years, the work of the Ministry of the Interior was compromised by destructive actions that led to the diminution of the police capacity to fulfill their duties.
The lawmaker also said that the police officers were deprived of state social protection and of the right to dwelling. Their incomes fell by 35%. Some 40% of the police employees were fired and replaced with inexperienced persons.
The minister of the interior was accused of having an inadmissible behavior and of being involved in a road accident, illegal telephone conversations and fraudulent public acquisitions. “The Ministry of the Interior became a political institution and lost its moral right to implement policies to maintain law and order,” stated Gheorghe Anghel.
Next week, the Parliament’s Bureau will decide when the motion will be debated. A simple motion is adopted by a majority of votes.
