The Parliament’s sitting was closed after the Communist lawmakers left the assembly hall as the quorum was not present. They accused the MPs of the government coalition of being under the influence of alcohol, IPN reports.

“They are drunk. It’s impossible to stay in the hall as it smells of alcohol. During the break they had a bout. They got drunk and came to the sitting. All the 37 lawmakers are inebriated,” said Communist MP Iurie Munteanu.

The Communists said the lawmakers of the government coalition celebrated the birthday of the Liberal-Democratic MP Ion Butmalai during the break. Deputy Speaker Adrian Candu denied the accusations of the opposition, saying he didn’t even know that it was the birthday of Ion Butmalai.

Speaker Igor Corman closed the sitting and transferred the agenda items that weren’t discussed for the October 11 sitting.
