At a sitting on Thursday afternoon, the MPs will examine a draft decision to set a new date for the presidential election presented by the special commission for the election of the President of Moldova. The Communist MPs who form part of the Parliament's Standing Bureau criticized it for its work, expressing their dissatisfaction with the fact that they have been informed about the meeting only two hours before its start and did not know the agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The decision on the election of the head of state was drafted by the commission on October 21. Only the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu was registered as candidate for the presidency. Thus, the commission considers that the decision to hold the presidential election on October 23 must be annulled and there must be fixed a new date. The commission also intends to propose amendments to the law on the procedure for electing the head of state within 10 days after the presentation of a report in the Parliament.
“The draft decision was presented in the morning and the MPs have not managed to examine it. How can we vote on it at 16.00? The coalition is always in a hurry and breaks the law. This is profanation of the Parliament's work,” said Communist MP Grigore Petrenko.
The Communist MPs proposed including in the agenda two draft decisions that have been submitted earlier. These concern the dismissal of Speaker Mihai Ghimpu and the declaration of mayor Dorin Chirtoaca's seat of MP vacant. The proposals were again rejected by a majority vote of the members of the Standing Bureau.
The agenda of Thursday's sitting includes the modification of the numerical and nominal composition of the Standing Bureau and the examination of a draft decision on the simultaneous holding of the seat of MP and other posts.
