The chairman of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin has said that the Communist lawmakers are pressurized by the ruling alliance into voting for a certain candidate for the presidency, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I possess reliable information. The members of our parliamentary group told me personally that they are offered favors and things in order to take part in the voting and vote for a certain person. It is good that they realize it’s time to elect the President and the set date is reasonable. We earlier proposed the date of December 15, but the difference of one day does not count. I believe presidential candidates will be registered this time,” said Vladimir Voronin. According to the Communist leader, the PCRM did not yet take a decision whether to field a candidate or not. “We cannot put forward a candidate for a number of reasons, but this is not a final decision. The party’s Central Committee will come together for a meeting to decide,” he stated. Vladimir Voronin also said that regardless of who is elected head of state and what is his or hers political orientation, it is important that the President respect the supreme law.
