The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) requested the Parliament to withdraw the immunity of Communist lawmaker Anatolie Popusoi, former director of the State Forestry Agency “Moldsilva”. According to Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, Popusoi is suspected of appropriating over 80 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The PG’s request will be examined at the September 23 sitting of the legislature. The decision was made at today’s meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Bureau.
Communist MP Grigore Petrenko said the Communist parliamentary group, for its part, demands that the PG withdraw the parliamentary immunity of Acting President and Speaker Mihai Ghimpu as he has usurped the state power. Petrenko’s statement dissatisfied Mihai Ghimpu. “Are you healthy? What are these accusations? I will tell you on Thursday who usurped the power in the state,” he said angrily.
Anatolie Popusoi had headed the “Moldsilva” Agency in 2001-2009. He has been absent from most of the sittings of the current legislative body.
