Communist legislative boycott was 'a losing tactic'

The decision of the Communist lawmakers to return to the Parliament's sittings indicate that their tactic was wrong in the first place, thinks political pundit Anatol Taranu. “As the date when Parliament will be convened after the summer recess approaches, it's obvious the Communists have to decide their next steps. It's important that they made this decision to return to Parliament, and this indicates that their tactic to boycott the legislative sittings was losing, and now they recognize their failure”, Anatol Taranu told Info-Prim Neo. Taranu went on to suggest that the Communists' return could also be linked to a potential deal with the Liberal-Democrats, but this could be a coincidence as well. “(Liberal leader) Vlad Filat stated that the President of Moldova would be elected in autumn; this can only be achieved with Communist endorsement”, remarked Anatol Taranu. The Communist faction has boycotted Parliament sittings since June to protest the outcome of the general local elections. On Tuesday the Communist Party announced its parliamentarians would be attending the legislative sittings in the upcoming autumn/winter session, in order to “to pull the country out of the enduring political crisis”.
