The Communist MPs in the May 12 sitting requested that the Liberal lawmaker Mihai Ghimpu should leave the assembly hall. According to the Opposition, Mihai Ghimpu offended tens of thousands of people when he said that those who took part in the Victory March on May 9 were paid for participation, Info-Prim Neo reports. Speaker Marian Lupu said there are no reasons to ask the lawmaker to leave the sitting as the statements were made outside Parliament and the legislative body’s regulations do not apply to them. During a break in the sitting, Communist MP Eduard Musuc told the reporters that the Communist parliamentary group will notify the Prosecutor General’s Office of the statements made by Mihai Ghimpu. “The accusations are groundless and aberrant. We believe the Prosecutor General’s Office should get involved,” said the lawmaker. He also said that at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the legislature can consider withdrawing the immunity of MP Mihai Ghimpu.
