The Communist parliamentary group reiterated its last week’s call to recall Moldova’s Ambassador to Romania Iurie Renita for the reason that he gave an interview where he spoke about the Moldovan-Romanian relations and said that he was a Romanian, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Communists demanded that Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca come to Parliament and provide explanations over the statements made by the Ambassador.
“The Communists should deal with the socioeconomic problems and recognize the historical truth. If they don’t like such a policy, they should go and breed geese,” said the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu.
The leader of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov said the Foreign Ministry should however order Moldova’s ambassadors not to pronounce on internal policy matters.
In an interview for the Romanian press, Ambassador Iurie Renita said he is Romanian and Moldova and Romania have the same historical, cultural and linguistic bases.
