The faction of the Communist Party on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) said they will take part in the Council’s meeting only if the seats of the three Communist councilors are withdrawn and given to the substitute candidates, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference given before the December 23 meeting of the CMC, the faction’s head Boris Golovin said the withdrawal of the three seats is intentionally postponed in order to prevent the Communist councilors from using their majority potential to stop the wrongdoings committed by the local administration.
“We decided not to go to the Council’s meeting today so as not to take part in this democratic farce that is against the people and the municipality,” said Boris Golovin.
Communist MP Sergiu Sirbu said it was a raider attack against the Chisinau Council, namely against the majority on the CMC, which involves all the powers – the Government through the State Chancellery, the judiciary and the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Sergiu Sirbu said that on December 21 the Court of Appeals took the decision to withdraw the seats of the Liberal councilors in a record time of one hour, while in the case of the seats of the Communist councilors, the procedure has lasted for four months.
According to the lawmaker, the legislative body is a party to the committed illegalities and the fact that it did not adopt the PCRM’s bill that can solve this problem is a proof of this. Sergiu Sirbu said pressure is being exerted on the Central Election Commission to immediately validate the seats of three Liberal councilors so that the Liberals have a relative majority on the CMC in the near future.
Sergiu Sirbu called on the CEC chairman not to allow this attack and not to validate the three seats of the Liberal Party until the seats of the Communist Party are validated as well.
