In order to ensure efficient cooperate in the area of telecommunications, Chisinau and Tiraspol must sign several important agreements, decisions and protocols. Mihaela Iacob, coordinator of the working group on telecommunications on behalf of Chisinau, said the Transnistrian side is not open for cooperation.
Mihaela Iacob, who is Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, said there should be signed a protocol decision on the restoration of the fixed-line telephone interconnection and an agreement on direct interconnection of the networks of the telecommunications operators “Moldotelecom” and “Interdnestrcom”. A protocol decision on the measures aimed at ensuring the functioning of the mass media and distribution of periodicals and audiovisual programs on both sides of the Nistru River and at establishing cooperation in planning the radio and TV frequencies with the technology and communications ministry of Transnistria is also needed.
“For the time being, these questions are only discussed. There is no decision yet owing to the political aspects that hinder communication. We suggest solutions and proposals, but they are not accepted. We come to the meetings, but they do not want to send specialists,” said the deputy minister.
She also spoke about the problem of distributing pensions at home. The car of Moldova’s Post Office cannot go through the Dubasari customs post, which is located at the intersection of the roads Dubasari-Cosnita-Stefan Voda. “This post does not allow the car with money and goods intended for the post offices of Cocieri and Molovata Noua villages to pass. They do not allow the guard accompanying the car to carry gun. We proposed that the problem be discussed within the Joint Control Commission so as to issue a permit allowing the car to cross the Dubasari customs post,” said Mihaela Iacob, adding their suggestion remained yet without an answer.
The Chisinau-Tiraspol working groups resumed work in February 2010. They aim to strengthen confidence between the people living on the two sides of the Nistru.
