Public utilities in the area of electronic communications will have greater responsibilities toward consumers, the National Regulatory ITC Agency (ANRCETI) stated in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The electronic communication utilities are required by a recent ordinance of the Agency to include in the contracts concluded with the consumers the minimum quality standards, the rates and the prices for each type of services, the conditions of ceasing the provision of services, the way of obtaining updated information on rates and charges, including on maintenance and repair. The utilities also have the obligation to notify the consumer in writing of the modifications to the terms of the contract no later than one month before they take effect. The failure to observe these obligations will entail sanctions from the Agency. The ordinance comes after ANRCETI verified the model contracts for the provision of services and found that the utilities failed to include quality safeguards and exclude abusive clauses.
