The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have common visions regarding the European integration, by implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union and by effectively fighting against corruption. Statements in this regard were made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Vadym Prystaiko, at their meeting in Kiev.

In a MAEIE  press release, it is stated that the two officials discussed the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border security, including the Transnistrian segment, discussed ensuring an increased level of ecological protection of the Dniester river, as well as about the liberalization of car and air transport by expanding common control points.

Minister Nicu Popescu appreciated the Kiev's active position regarding the identification of a sustainable political solution for the Transnistrian conflict, based on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. Minister Popescu reiterated that the illegal presence of the Russian military in the Transnistrian region is contrary to the principle of neutrality of the Republic of Moldova and that this topic remains a priority for our country.

The minister also reconfirmed Moldova's firm position on supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. Nicu Popescu invited his Ukrainian counterpart to Chișinău. Additionally, the ministers agreed upon setting up a new visit, in the near future, of Prime Minister Maia Sandu to Kiev.
