After the first Common Public Services Center was inaugurated in Lozova village of Strășeni district last December, similar centers were today opened in 16 more settlements of the country where the residents will be able to access digital governmental services with the assistance of a trained specialist. The service is intended primarily for persons who do not have a computer and Internet collection or do not have digital skills, IPN reports.

The inauguration ceremony was held online. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said the Republic of Moldova managed to move many services to the online environment. “We can make payments and receive social benefits without leaving home, at any hour, through the MPay service. Half of the country’s citizens used at least one public service online,” stated the official.

The local public authorities of the 16 localities accepted enthusiastically the proposal to become involved in this ambitious project that brings innovation and changes the method of providing services at the local level, said Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization Iurie Țurcanu.

Over 200 services were digitized and can be easily and swiftly accessed, starting from the submission of an application online up to the delivery of the result of the service. “Even if this sometimes means the necessity of electronic identification, minimum computer or telephone skills, all these things will be normal when the citizens are well-informed, while the public institutions regain the citizens’ confidence,” stated Iurie Țurcanu.

In total, 28 Public Services Centers will be opened in rural areas and in consular offices abroad. At these centers, the persons will be able to learn what documents they need for a service and to file an online application for a service. They can schedule an appointment to obtain a service or to collect a document and can submit applications to have the pension reexamined, to obtain a copy of the birth, death, marriage and other certificates.

The centers today were opened in the villages Corjeuți, Parcova, Pelinia, Limbenii Noi, Pepeni, Bilicenii Vechi, Taxobeni, Sculeni, Pârjolteni, Chiperceni, Peresecina, Holercani, Pănășești, Mereni, Albota de Sus and Colibași. The project is implemented with support from the World Bank.
