All electronic devices in Moldova will have a standard charging equipment, the USB-C connector. This was announced by Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba.
“From 2024, the USB-C connector has become the standard in the EU for all electronic devices. We will follow suit and prioritize the introduction of this standard in the Republic of Moldova as well”, said the minister.
Dumitru Alaiba stated that people buy an average of three chargers per year, and with the implementation of this measure, they will have a single universal charger for phones, tablets and cameras.
Another advantage, according to the minister, is the reduction of electronic waste. “Millions of chargers are thrown away every year because they are not compatible with new devices. Now it will be much simpler”, said Dumitru Alaiba.
