Members of the Committee of the National Resistance Movement ACUM have announced a new protest that will be mounted in front of the Parliament Building when the MPs will come together for a plenary sitting. In a news conference at IPN, the organizers said the goal is to make the MPs to fulfil the demands stipulated in the resolution that was adopted in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau on July 1 and in the European Parliament’s resolution, namely those that are within the legislature’s remit, IPN reports.

“The Committee of the National Resistance Movement is profoundly concerned about the fact that the oligarchic regime delays the fulfillment of the demands formulated by citizens in the large-scale protest mounted on July 1 this year, namely: to confirm the legality of the mayoral elections and validate the election of Andrei Nastase as mayor; to annul the mixed electoral system and restore the proportional representation system, and to hold accountable the judges who took part in the adoption of the illegal decisions,” the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth ”Andrei Nastase said, reading a statement.

Andrei Nastase invited the citizens to actively and massively take part in the planned protest. According to him, if the government does not implement the formulated demands, peaceful civil disobedience activities against dictatorship will be staged in the country and the diaspora. The events will culminate with the General Assembly of Citizens on August 26.

Secretary general of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Igor Grosu thanked the participants in the previous protests for showing that they are a civic force that struggles for citizens’ rights. “We call on you to come to that Parliament that had a shameful performance in the last sitting. The MPs pretended that they don’t understand the content of the statement adopted by us and of the statement adopted by the European Parliament. We invite you to come, on the day they will pretend to be working, and demand that they should fulfil the demands specified in the resolution,” stated Igor Grosu.

The representatives of the Committee also called on the citizens from the diaspora who returned home to take part in the protest, together with the relatives, colleagues and friends, and urged those who are abroad to invite the relations to take an active part in the activities organized by the National Resistance Movement.
