The parliamentary commission of inquiry into the way the competent bodies handled the hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest established that the Security and Information Service (SIS) was one of the institutions that hid the shooting of a participant in the hunting. The information is contained in the report presented by the commission in Parliament on February 15, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The commission asked for information from the SIS about the incident that happened in the Domneasca Forest on December 23, 2012 and was afterward informed that the Service found out about the incident on January 6, 2013 from the media,” said the commission’s chairman Anatolie Zagorodnyi. The commission determined yet that SIS employees had been at the natural reserve “Padurea Domneasca” on December 23-31 and inquired about the hunting, the participants, and the circumstances of the incident.
“Analyzing the available information, the commission ascertained that the Security and Information Service was one of the institutions that hid the crime committed in the Domneasca Forest,” stated Anatolie Zagorodnyi.
He also said that on January 23 the commission asked for information about this case from the Prosecutor General’s Office. It was later established that the main procedures weren’t performed, including the examination of the scene, the immediate confiscation of the arms, and the involvement of criminologists.
“The main witnesses to the incident hadn’t been questioned by the time the commission of inquiry was constituted. By January 10, the Falesti Prosecutor’s Office hadn’t examined the place and hadn’t collected evidence on the spot. The investigation was thus seriously affected,” said the MP.
The hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest, which resulted in the death of a man, was made public two weeks later by politician Sergiu Mocanu. The prosecutors have only one suspect. The former vice president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Gheorghe Cretu is investigated for accidental killing.
