The National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health will start to work on May 15 instead of the Commission for Exceptional Situations (CES) and a state of emergency and a red alert in public health will be most probably declared, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council.

According to President Dodon, starting with Friday all the powers to impose and lift restrictions will be transferred from the Commission for Exceptional Situations to the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health.

“As you know, we decided not to ask Parliament to extend the state of emergency, but this does not mean that the risk passed,” said the official.

Igor Dodon noted there are sufficient tests kits for COVID-19 at present – about 80,000. The necessary equipment and consumables are also in place. The people should not relax and should obey the sanitary-epidemiological norms.

The state of emergency declared in connection with the epidemiological situation has lasted for 60 days.
