By a special commission for distributing Romanian humanitarian aid will be created in each village and town of the country. The commission will consist of the mayor, community social assistant and social worker. A decision to this effect was taken in the March 15 meeting of the interdepartmental commission for humanitarian aid, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, to ensure a transparent distribution process, the local commissions for humanitarian aid will ask district councilors, representatives of civil society and the mass media to become involved in the process. To take part in the monitoring activities, the interested NGOs can send a letter of intent to the local commissions for humanitarian aid by March 17, 2016.

The interdepartmental commission also approved the categories of beneficiaries and the plan for distributing the humanitarian aid provided by the Government of Romania. The aid consists of 1,170 tonnes of sugar, 20,000 parcels of foods products, including flour, pasta, canned meat and vegetables, and over 16,000 tonnes of crude oil to prevent situations of risk in the energy sector.

The first consignment of 203 tonnes of sugar was transmitted to the Agency for Material Reserves on March 10, while the second batch of 204 tonnes of sugar reached Chisinau earlier this week.
