Several companies who own stands in the commercial center near the school fair on Pushkin Street complained at the City Hall that the municipal services encouraged unfair competition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The companies claim to be disadvantaged through the application of different taxes, communicated the head of the trade, catering and services division Vladimir Nirca. The rent of a sq. meter in the commercial center costs at least €25 per month. If the rented area is larger, the tax is lower, e.g. 6 sq. meters cost only €50. Meanwhile, the fair’s participation fee is only 112 lei.
At the beginning of July, local authorities announced that there would be no school fair in the center of the capital because of the litter it leaves behind, but later changed their minds. According to an ordinance of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, the traditional school fair will be organized between August 10 and September 2 on Pushkin St (the Cathedral Square) and in all of the 5 sectors of the capital.
