The Chisinau City Hall intends to set up a commemorative plaque “Valeriu Boboc” in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, in the place where the young man was killed during the April 7, 2009 protests, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Monday asked the Funeral Service Company to prepare the plaque as soon as possible.
“Justice will be done sooner or later, but until then we should not omit this subject as the young people still suffer because they have been ignored since 2009. Astonishing information about the authors of those events may come out one day,” said the mayor.
The protests against the rigging of the April 5, 2009 vote started the next day after the elections and intensified the second day, when they degenerated into violence. The Parliament Building and the Residential Office were devastated. Dozens of young persons were taken to police stations on the night of April 8. Valeriu Boboc was among the persons who were beaten by police officers in the central square of Chisinau. The investigations showed the father of a child died as a result of the received injuries.
