A commemorative plaque in memory of Auguste Baillayre will be set up on the façade of the National Museum of Arts, which is under renovation. A relevant draft decision was approved by the Government based on a Chisinau Municipal Council decision of this February. The costs for making and placing the plaque will be covered with money from the state budget, IPN reports.

Auguste Baillayre was a painter, scene painter and sketcher from France. In 1919-1940, he worked as a teacher at the Chisinau School of Arts and, simultaneously, as chief scene painter at the National Theater.

The painter donated his Bessarabian art collection of about 300 works to the Chisinau National Museum of Arts.
