A commemorative plaque for Nicon Zaporojan will be installed on Dokuceav St, no. 4. The authorities will thus honor the former deputy head architect of Chisinau and member of the Moldova Union of Architects, IPN reports.
The proposal of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research is based on a decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council and is included in a draft decision submitted for public consultation. The plaque will be manufactured and installed according to a project examined and approved by the Ministry’s National Council for Public Forum Monuments. The expenses will be covered by the Chisinau Municipality.
Nicon Zaporojan died in October 2015. He had worked in the architecture division since 1976. He was a member of the Union of Architects and of the municipal chief architect’s Urban Council. In his 40 year long career, he contributed to the development of Chisinau’s architecture and urban planning. He received the Architect Emeritus title in 1998, the Civic Merit medal in 2006, the “Devout Paisie Velicikovski” Order in 2007 and the Prime Minister’s 1st degree diploma in 2014.
