Chairman of the National Independence War Veterans Union (NIWVU), Eduard Maican, believes the Republic of Moldova’s government doesn’t grant the proper attention to participants of the war of independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova from 1992, and treated with indifference the problems of the survivors and the memory of the fallen. Maican declared for Info-Prim Neo that on the left side of the Nistru River there is no museum of heroes that fought for the Republic of Moldova’s Independence. “There are many museums, yet none of them is dedicated to the 1992 heroes”, Miron claims. According to him, the region controlled by the Tiraspol regime has several museums dedicated to the separatist fighters, including Cossacks. According to the cited source, the attitude of the Republic of Moldova towards the combatants speaks for itself, as millions were spent on the reconstruction of the Memorial honoring the memory of soviet soldiers, while for the 1992 war veterans nothing was done. In the war of independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, which began on March 2, 1992, 28 thousand combatants, most of them policemen, participated in for the constitutional forces. 310 of these fell on the battlefield.
