The weather will get significantly colder in the next days, due to an arctic air mass moving towards Moldova on April 5-6. According to the site of Hidrometeo Service, the average temperatures may drop 7-10 degrees and reach -5 degrees during nighttime hours, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At the same time, the meteorologists in Romania assert that on April 5 the weather will be sunny, but chilly, while the temperatures will vary between +5 and +16 degree Celsius. On April 6, the temperature will oscillate between +2 and +17 degrees Celsius, with cloudy intervals. Temperatures of +5 and +17 degrees Celsius are expected on Saturday.
Requested by Info-Prim Neo, sources from the State Hydrometeorology Service stated that the weather forecasts have changed a little, because the arctic air mass stopped moving. Thus, on night from April 6 to April 7 the air temperature will fall to -3 degrees.
Yet, there is a real danger that plants and blossoms might freeze. As farmers say, the frosts in spring can affect the fruit crop, because at the temperature under 0°C, the water from the cells of the plants freezes up and deteriorates them. The problems caused by frost become more serious after the sunrise, when the plants are rapidly thawing out, braking their cellular structure.
Specialists recommend several methods for plant protection. The plants climbing on walls and trellises, as well as those sensible that are planted in open zones can be protected by sheets. Another method is to cover them with leaves and/or straw. The bulbs, bulbous roots and annual plants must be covered with a thick layer of manure, straw or old leaves to prevent them from freezing. Trees can be protected by smoke of stakes.
