Owing to the rather cold weather for this period, the bees do not manage to make reserves of food for the young bees that are not yet mature, chairman of the Beekeepers Association of Moldova Stefan Condratiuc has told IPN.

“The bees haven’t yet formed their nests. It is too early. This is not at all beneficial to the bees. They are scattered and this can affect the development of families. In this period, the bees still fly and the young bees develop. They collect food that will be used to feed the young in spring,” said Stefan Condratiuc.

He also said that about two times more honey has been gathered this year, compared with last year. The quantity of acacia honey is smaller, but of linden honey and of honey from spontaneous flowers is larger.
