CoE secretary commends reforms in Moldovan justice

Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland has commended the progress of reforms in Moldova, especially those started in the justice area, praising the Moldovan government for respecting its commitments. The statement was made during a meeting with Moldovan Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim in Strasbourg, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the Ministry of Justice, the two officials talked about the election of the president of Moldova. Oleg Efrim expressed his consideration for the interest CoE showed in the political events in Moldova and for the involvement of its representatives in finding a solution to the constitutional blockage in Moldova. “The main goal of the Moldovan government in its relationship with the Council of Europe is to end the monitoring of the country and progress to the post-modernization stage”, declared Oleg Efrim. The Minister is in Strasbourg participating in the Pan-European Forum.
