The negotiations on the new coalition government are taking too long, especially since they involve three parties that share an alliance experience together, thinks expert Arcadie Barbarosie. The director of the Public Policy Institute says that the three parties are repeating the mistakes of the 2010 negotiations, which eventually led to a lengthy political crisis.
Speaking at the concluding session of the “National Convention for European Integration” Project on Monday, Arcadie Barbarosie argued that the three parties should consider including the Communists in a broad coalition. “I think it's absolutely vital that the three parties consider inviting the Communist Party to take part in the government in one way or another. I'm not sure this will make our development partners very happy, but I personally believe this is absolutely necessary”, said Barbarosie.
Arcadie Barbarosie remarked that in the recent parliamentary elections the three parties forming the prospective coalition have lost 150-160,000 votes compared to the 2010 elections. He thinks this due not just to the geopolitical factor, but also because the government failed to deliver on the promises made in 2010. “When people are talking about the new government program, I often say let's take the old one from 2010 and implement it. There's nothing much new to invent”, said Arcadie Barbarosie.
Following the recent elections, the three negotiating parties, the Liberal Democrats, the Democrats and the Liberals, have together 55 out of 101 seats in the Parliament.
