Politician Sergiu Mocanu, who heads the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, accuses the parties of the government coalition and the opposition of organizing the February 2 referendums in Gagauzia in complicity. In a news conformance at IPN, he said that the agreement was reached in a bar in Vulcanesti on January 15.

Sergiu Mocanu stated that those who were present at the table in that bar included Liberal-Democratic MP Petru Vlah, head of Vulcanesti district Serghei Cernev, and Communist MPs Irina Vlah and Oleg Garizan. Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Dmitri Constantinov and the leaders of the parties of the government coalition knew about the actions of these persons.

“Petru Vlah pledged to finance this referendum. He is the one who controls the market in Comrat. He is a well-off man. He has two houses in Chisinau and one in Comrat. He offered to financially and logistically support the plebiscite,” stated Sergiu Mocanu.

According to him, the official Chisinau acts incoherently because the political parties that are in power do not work based on political principles. “These are groups headed by people who pursue economic and criminal goals. They have different political views,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

He also said that the criminal cases started by the Prosecutor General’s Office over the referendums will produce no results. Nobody will be punished or held accountable.

The leader of “Antimafie” stated that last year Dmitri Constantinov, Serghei Cernev, Nicolai Dudoglo and the Bashkan Mihail Formuzal, who are political opponents, agreed to bring together over 3,000 people at the Pro-European Assembly that was staged by the government coalition in Chisinau on November 3.
