The co-owner of the Vento network of filling stations Igor Borș, who two years ago was arrested and later, during about a year was held in custody, was acquitted. Furthermore, the order to seize his property and the bank accounts in the name of the legal entity SRL “Datario” was annulled, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the sentence was passed by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau City Court on December 9 after the anticorruption prosecutors dropped the charges brought in 2018.

The businessman was arrested on March 3, 2018. He and six alleged accomplices of his were accused of money laundering and tax evasion aimed at gaining control and taking over the filling stations that belonged to a joint enterprise with foreign capital.

The prosecutor in charge of the case organized the search, arrest and remanding of the persons in custody and sequestration of their property. He later dropped the charges against all the suspects, except for Igor Borș.

The names of brothers Andrian and Igor Borș, who are co-owners of the Vento network, are on the list of the 38 criminal cases that were allegedly started by political order and as a result of which a number of persons were unjustly tried.
