CNPF: Gross written premiums had a more alert growth pace than insurance

The insurance companies in Moldova in the first quarter of this year collected insurance premiums to the value of 485.2 million lei. The figure is by 24.5% higher than in the corresponding period last year. The data of the National Commission for Financial Markets shows the gross written premiums had a more alert growth pace than the insurance, IPN reports.

Growths were witnessed in most of the insurance classes. The insurance market of the Republic of Moldova remains dominated by the general insurance segment with a share of 94.4% of the total gross written premiums subscribed by insurers. Life insurance represented 5.6% of the total gross written premiums, which is 27.3 million lei.

Insurance paid by insurance companies in the first quarter of this year came to 185 million lei, an increase of 17.1% compared with the same period last year. Insurance under general insurance totaled 174.6 million lei, while under life insurance – 10.3 million lei. Health insurance grew by 42.9% to 11.4 million lei, while civil liability insurance rose by 14.3% to 88.8 million lei.
