“Be an informed parent, know you rights!” is the slogan of an information campaign launched by UNFPA Moldova in partnership with the National House of Social Insurance (CNAS). According to CNAS head Elena Țîbîrnă, the campaign is designed to inform the parents about the legislative changes concerning parental leave or child benefit, IPN reports.
The CNAS chief noted that through the campaign conducted with the assistance of UNPFA, the parents will be informed by specialists of the local houses of social insurance about the recent changes made to the national legislation that supports the families with children. The child benefit can be now taken in the form chosen by the parents, during a flexible period of time.
“The parents, either the father or the mother, who worked, received a salary and paid social insurance contributions from the salary, get child benefit. The parents can choose from among three options – to receive child benefit during three consecutive years in the amount of 30% of the calculation basis, which is the average insured salary from which contributions had been paid the past 12 months multiplied by 30%; during 24 months in the amount of 60% of the average salary, and during 12 months in the amount of 90% of the average salary, which is the most popular option. The parents should know these aspects,” Elena Țîbîrnă stated in the program “Common Objective” on TVR Moldova channel.
Also, the parents will be informed about the advantages of parental leave on which each officially employed father can go during the first year of life of the child.
“The parental leave lasts for 14 calendar days. The major change is that until now, it could have been taken during 56 days of the birth of the child, but now it can be taken during a year of the birth. The legislative change is designed to offer greater flexibility to fathers for them to choose the period during which to benefit from this leave. A change was also made as regards the childcare leave. Until now, this leave could be taken by one of the parents, but now this leave can be divided between the parents,” said UNFPA Moldova Assistant Representative Natalia Plugaru.
Information sessions within the campaign “Be an informed parent, know you rights!” will be staged in all Moldova’s districts until February 28, 2023. The timetable of events can be seen on www.cnas.gov.md
