The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) presented the achievements of 2023, noting that these were possible due to the conscientious payment by citizens of the mandatory health insurance premium, IPN reports.
Among the carried-out projects is the designing of the automated information system “ePrescription for compensated medicines and medical devices”. The e-prescription will simplify the process of prescribing and dispensing compensated pharmaceuticals. The system will be launched in the first months of next year.
Another achievement is the extension by eight international nonproprietary names of the list of compensated medicines and also the inclusion of new medical devices in the list of compensated ones.
High-performance medical services were performed for the first time in 3023 through the information system “Reporting and Recording of Medical Services”. Thanks to this system, medically insured persons can make online appointments for high-performance medical services by freely choosing the provider.
The access of oncological patients to high-performance services was facilitated, especially in the case of those whose oncological diseases were detected for the first time. CNAM took over the scheduling of oncological patients for expensive examinations. This way, the waiting time for these services was reduced from a few weeks to three-four 4 days.
In 2023, the coverage of the population with medical insurance was also widened. In order to support the health of mothers and children in the early stages of life, the list of persons insured by the Government was completed with a new category – unemployed mothers who care for their children until the age of two.
For persons who pay health insurance premium in a fixed amount, the validity term of the status of insured person was extended by one month, until January 31 of the following year. Thus, these citizens will have access to medical services covered by mandatory health insurance also in the first days of the year - a period that includes several holidays or days off.
CNAM also invested 25 million lei in the renovation of 22 medical institutions. The money was directed from the company’s fund for the development and modernization of public healthcare providers.
For the prophylaxis and prevention of diseases, CNAM purchased 200,000 doses of influenza vaccine, 12,000 sets of rabies vaccine, 37,000 doses of rabies immunoglobulin and 8,000 doses of vaccine against viral hepatitis B. Also, a number of screening programs were funded and prophylaxis and disease prevention projects were implemented in different fields, such as HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis.
For 2024, the mandatory health insurance premium in monetary value was maintained at the level of 2023 and is 12,636 lei. The compulsory health insurance premium as a percentage of salary and other rewards was kept at the level of 9%.
