Patients with diabetes who follow treatment in ambulatory conditions can benefit from compensated insulin analogs and medical devices for monitoring blood sugar. The beneficiaries, both insured and noninsured persons, can collect the medicines and medical devices from any drugstore contracted by the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), IPN reports.
The Company noted that these have free access to seven common international names of insulin analogs, namely: insulinum aspartum, insulinum aspartum biphasic, insulinum degludecum, insulinum detemirum, insulinum glarginum, insulinum glulisinum and insulinum lispro. These preparations are issued based on prescription issued by the endocrinologist. In district medical institutions where there are no endocrinologists, this is issued by the doctor assigned by order of the district hospital’s director.
The patient does not need to be referred to the endocrinologist and needs only to schedule an appointment.
The prescriptions for compensated medical devices – test strips and lancets for monitoring blood glucose – are issued by the family doctor.
The druggist is obliged to offer the medical device provided free. If the person refuses the given drug, he/she will be informed about available devices that are compensated partially. Insulin analogs are compestaed fully.
If the requested medicine or medical device is absent in drugstore, this will be made available to the applicant within 72 hours of the request.
