The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will consider the possibility of issuing tickets for apartments in the block of flats built for Transnistrian refugees on Ginta Latina Street at its meeting of November 22. Only some of the 80 families expecting tickets from the City Hall will receive such bonuses for the time being.
At Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, deputy mayor of Chisinau Igor Lupulciuc said that the process is delayed because not all the dossiers are complete, while some of them do not justify the need for dwelling space. At this week’s meeting, the CMC will examine the distribution of apartments only to 5-10 families that presented all the necessary documents.
According to Igor Lupulciuc, even if the tickets will be distributed later, they should be given to the persons that are indeed in need of better living conditions and deserve them. Several families have been excluded from the list of applicants for apartments in the given residential bock because it was ascertained that the authorities allocated them apartments and plots of land on which to build dwelling or they received preferential credits to erect houses.
Lupulciuc said that about 90% of the families that applied for apartments in the block located on Ginta Latina Street were contacted and informed about the necessity of presenting the absent documents that confirm that they need housing. 10% of them were not contacted because they are not in the country or because they changed the place of residence indicated in the documents submitted to the City Hall. Announcements were put on the block from Ginta Latina Street and on the block from N. Milescu-Spataru Street that started to be erected recently.
Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said that the deadline of 15 days within which the City Hall was to start issuing tickets to refugees expired last weekend. He asked officials of the City Hall to provide explanations about the reason of the delay to the refugees so as they see that the postponement is not through the City Hall’s fault.
