Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) rejected, on Tuesday, 20 June, the exclusion of a building of the Register of Monuments of national and municipal importance.
The building, private house, situated on the street Armeneasca, dates from the beginning of the XX-th century and is considered as an architecture monument of local importance.
At the beginning, the municipal councilors requested the Culture Department to inform about the person who has built it, who owns it, as well as the arguments leading to exclude the building off the Register, as the argument „the monument is excluded in order to renew the Register” did not satisfy the councilors.
The councilors noted that a solution would be restoring the building, and not its exclusion off the Register.
The representatives of the Culture Department said that the decision draft was submitted for examination to the Municipal Council on the ground of a businessman’s petition, who owns this building, and also according to the minute of the National Council for Monuments’ Protection of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
On the proposal of the interim mayor of Chisinau municipality, Vasile Ursu, the councilors disposed that the Culture Department shall form a special commission, which would examine the list of architecture monuments.
Now a new Register of monuments of national and municipal importance is drafted; the exact number of the monuments is not known.
