The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) did not manage to approve the composition the electoral bureaus of the polling stations located in the districts of the municipality. After disputes and frequent pauses, the councilors decided to continue discussing the issue at the next meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The councilors did not succeed in reaching a consensus because a large part of the persons included in the lists were supporters or even representatives of the parties running in elections. They also had objections as to the old age of some candidates and to the lack of necessary qualifications of some persons for forming part of the electoral bureaus.
The CMC secretary Valeriu Didenco said that when compiling the lists, preference was given to the persons that worked earlier on electoral bureaus or work now in the institutions where the bureaus will be set up.
Under the Election Code, the electoral bureaus are composed of 5-11 members. Out of these, three candidates are fielded by the local councilors, while the rest by the political parties represented in the Parliament, proportionally to the number of MPs. The candidates put forward by the local councilors must not be party members. The CMC must approve the list at least 20 days before the election day.
