The meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) convoked on September 22 at the request of the Communist faction did not take place because a quorum was not present. Only the Communist councilors came to the meeting.
The Communist faction’s deputy head Valery Pavlov has told Info-Prim Neo that neither the representatives of the other factions nor the mayor of Chisinau appeared at the meeting, though it was announced several days ago, according to him.
Valery Pavlov said the Communist councilors asked that the next meeting be convened on September 29 and voiced hope that the other councilors will also attend it then.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca told the press that the negotiations between factions on the distribution of responsibility for the commissions go on, but could end soon. “We are ready to convoke a meeting whenever the factions reach a compromise. All the other procedural aspects are of a minor importance,” he stated.
Dorin Chirtoaca specified that the Communist faction does not have a quorum of 26 councilors to hold the CMC meeting at present. There are now 24 Communist councilors as Zinaida Grecianyi and Igor Dodon renounced their seats, while the new councilors have not been yet confirmed.
