CMC faction seeks creation of electronic mechanism for seeing draft decisions

Alexandru Corduneanu, president of the faction of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), asks that the Council create an electronic mechanism for seeing and presenting draft decisions, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Corduneanu, 5 to 20 tonnes of paper of the best quality are used yearly for draft decisions and other materials distributed to the councilors. “This means millions of lei. After the commissions and the Council examine and approve the draft decisions, the paper is of no use and it is taken to Tantareni (waste dump in Tantareni – e.n.),” Corduneanu said at the last meeting of the CMC. The leader of the PPCD faction asked that officials of the City Hall within 2 weeks calculate the costs and assess the advantages of switching to an electronic system of presenting documents, including how much money is needed from the municipal budget. “This time, we had over 300 draft decisions and it was very hard for us to carry them,” Corduneanu said. He added that such a decision was voted in 2006 and they must hold a tender contest to select the company that will carry out the works. He also said that the tender book was probably already formulated. Currently, all the councilors receive papers with all the draft decisions that the Council is to examine at the meetings.
